author Virginia Woolf in her
book, A Room of One’s Own,
once opined that a woman must have
money and a room of her own if she is to
write fiction. Material things will bring
about intellectual freedom. This may be
the first step to towards independence -
to build a life in a room of one’s own.
Independent women in the 21st century
have achieved great things, their unique
brilliance have shone through in all
areas of life. Women are even making
big inroads in the once traditionally
masculine horse racing arena. The
industry has seen a steady rise of
female horse owners, jockeys, trainers,
and breeders, who, with their unique
meticulous, determined, and bold
characteristics are now the new face of
the horse racing industry.
The world ’s most famous racing
aficionado, HRH Queen Elizabeth II, is
one classic example. Queen Elizabeth II
