Yap Kim San has been
involved in thoroughbred
racing for three decades. To him, winning
or losing is irrelevant, what is most
important is the enjoyment of the sport.
“I’ve been involved in thoroughbred racing
since the 1980s, and have also undertaken
the reconstruction of a racecourse in
Vietnam. In 2008, I bought over New
Zealand based Raffles Farm from Lee
Thaim Yew (brother of Singapore’s first
Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew) and
entered into a partnership with Lawrence
Wadey and Bruce Sherwin.
I like the priceless joy that horse racing
offers; in order to enjoy the sport, you
must give up the win-lose mentality,
because, ultimately, only one winner can
emerge from a race.
