Racehorse of the Year, First
Seal, sets the tone for a wonderful start
to the Year of the Monkey for the China
Horse Club by smashing a race record at
Rosehill.

First Seal’s comeback attracted plenty
of attention from horseracing fans and
horse owners alike. One of the darlings of
Australian racing, First Seal was sidelined
through injury during the spring carnival,
and was overshadowed by the emergence
of Winx, but the reappearance of the
talismanic mare ensures the sport clearly
has two heroines to keep their eyes on.

his emotions after the win, breaking into
tears when thanking connections for
supporting him with the champion mare.
