WINNING MOMENTS

                                 Oakleight Plate 奥克利盘

                 Oakleigh Plate THE PERFECT FINISH
奥克利盘 The Oakleigh Plate is Australia’s premier race that runs
as one of three elite levels on the Blue Diamond Stakes
Day. While the Oakleigh Plate is not as world renowned
as the Blue Diamond Stakes, the 2018 Oakleigh Plate held
special significance as sire Snitzel recorded a victory in the
G1 Oakleigh Plate 12 years ago before he was retired to
stud. Will Russian Revolution emulate his champion sire by
winning the AUD500,000 G1 Oakleigh Plate?

Just like the G1 Galaxy a year ago, Russian Revolution
was once again the top favourite in the G1 Oakleigh Plate
                                 – a testament to the horse’s ability – especially since the
Oakleigh Plate attracts some of the strongest and fastest
horses, and this race was made up of four other Grade 1
stakes winners in a field of 18.

After starting from barrier 10, Russian Revolution
settled in fifth at 400m; jockey Zahra had him in a nice
rhythm, gradually moving in on second place; at 300m,
when the leading horses were beginning to quicken their
paces, jockey Zahra applied pressure; at 100m, Russian
Revolution stretched past Snitty Kitty for the lead before
                                 being challenged by three other horses, forming a quintet;
Russian Revolution dug deep and narrowly defeated Snitty
Kitty by a half-neck to secure the G1 win.

“The similarities between Russian Revolution and Snitzel
are becoming more and more apparent,” said Teo Ah Khing,
Chairman of CHC. He added: “They physically look similar,
they have both showed tremendous speed in their races, and
