JOINING HANDS WITH THE 2016
INTERNATIONAL NADAM

Nadam is an annual traditional Mongolian festival held
in the grasslands of Inner Mongolia to celebrate the end
of the harvest season. Festival activities include horse
racing, wrestling, archery and traditional folk songs
and dancing. Dubbed the “horseback nation”, Inner
Mongolia and its people have led a nomadic lifestyle
for centuries. Growing up in such vast grasslands makes
them bold and unrestrained, and horseback riding and
archery have become a way of life. This horse racing
culture and the nation’s love of the horse embodies the
spirit and identity of the Inner Mongolians. The Third
International Nadam organised by the Ordos Government
will include 45 sports activities held on international,
national and provincial levels, one of which is the 2016
CECF Ordos. Unlike a Nadam, the International Nadam,
is only held every two years.The 2016 CECF in Ordos will
kick off on 21 August 2016 in the beautiful grasslands of
Inner Mongolia, and as a prelude to this, a gala dinner will
be held on 20 August 2016.

“那达慕”是中国蒙古族人民具有鲜明民族特色的传统
活动，通过赛马、摔跤、射箭等各种民俗竞技活动的举
行，在庆祝丰收喜悦的同时享受游戏的乐趣，成为草原
上一年一度的传统盛会。蒙古族是当之无愧的“马背上
的民族”，千百年来过着“逐水草而迁徙”的游牧生
活。生长于那辽阔无垠的草原上，铸就了他们豪放不羁
的性情，和人人善骑射的民风。弯弓箭射凶狼和骑马
驰骋草原仿佛成为了一种民族文化的标志，在马背上感
受速度和激情的赛马文化是整个民族文化的灵魂，也是
向世界展现的极具代表性的民族精神。由鄂尔多斯人民
政府举办的第三届鄂尔多斯国际那达慕大会将包含共计
45项的国际级、国家级、省地级体育赛事，其中就包括
2016内蒙古鄂尔多斯国际驭马文化节。2016年8月21
日，本届CECF驭马文化节将在美丽的草原之都内蒙古鄂
尔多斯盛大开赛！同时，在赛前的8月20日还将隆重举办
CECF晚宴盛典，成为2016国际那达慕大会开幕式之前的
前奏活动。
